A Screen As A Threshold Control For Inside And Outside

This old utilitarian office building was given new life through the introduction of a steel framed aluminium louvered screen.

The screen provides shading from the harsh northern sun and also provides both an external identifiable element and visual “variety” filter from the interior.

As a result this simple design element allowed all façades to be neatened, cleaned and repainted and all existing glazing to be retained.

A new entrance canopy feature and reception area coupled by an integrated parking and security interface has given this building a new life for the next 20 years and become a feature of the Skeen Boulevard campus.
