Edmund started his architectural career in Eindhoven, The Netherlands for Architekten Bureau Wintermans in 1991, after completing his initial degree in Johannesburg. Since then Edmund has largely followed “emerging market” economies with stints in Singapore/South East Asia with RDC Architects and Nikken Sikkei International as well as the Middle East and Africa with Bentel Associates International as a director.
During these tenures, Edmund lead design and documentation teams on large projects such as Pluit Megamall, Jakara; Regent Heights, Singapore; Monte Casino Entertainment World, Johannesburg and Red Sea Mall in Jeddah.Since initiating Batley Partners in early 2005, Edmund has been responsible for and focused on continuing to establish the design philosophy for the practice.
GEORGE FLACK DAVISON
Director
Masters in Architecture, University of Witwatersrand, 2007 Diploma in Property Development and Management, University of Witwatersrand, 2010
George joined Batley Partners as a fresh graduate in 2008, becoming a director in 2013. George provides strategy input on market opportunities and future sector growth. His energy and enthusiasm for business development allows the practice to be kept abreast of the geopolitical developments in regions where the practice is active and wishes to become active.
George is also heavily involved in community drives and heads up the practices’ pro bono projects which enables both staff and their families to become more active and aware in social and welfare issue
NATHANIEL WAKEFIELD
Director
Bachelor of Architectural Technology Technical Institute of Cape Peninsula, and Witwatersrand Technikon, 1997
Nathaniel joined Batley Partners in early 2007 and became a director in 2012, being responsible for the technical and authorities’ liaisons for the practice.Nathaniel’s experience in various practices on International retail and commercial projects has allowed him to be at the forefront of technological developments and architectural software innovation. As a result, the practice is a contributor to various pilot programs for new software beta releases.
Nathaniel also heads up the practice’s contribution to South Africa’s business empowerment lobbying and bursary funds for architecture students from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
GIANFRANCO RENATO MONZEGLIO
Senior Architect
Bachelor of Architecture (Wits) 1988, South African Council for the Architectural Profession.
Franco joined Batley Partners in 2013 with 24 years’ experience over a diverse range of projects.
His previous work experience included a 14-month stint in Milan, Italy, commercial projects in Harare, Zimbabwe and 17 years as a director of a Johannesburg-based commercial architectural practice.
In a career spanning over 30 years, Franco has been involved commercial, retail, residential, industrial, public works, refurbishment and interiors projects working in his capacity as both project architect or Principal Agent.
